As one of the agency founders, Nick has over 25 years of digital, direct and database marketing experience. He helped set up JWT Direct before moving to M&C Saatchi Direct as GM. Closely involved with ADMA, Nick has served on the Board of Directors, chaired the Effectiveness Awards and is a regular speaker at the ADMA Forum. As CEO, Nick is responsible for deepening existing client relationships, leading our new business strategy and working closely with Saatchi Group and Publicis Groupe agencies.

Responsible for the day-to-day running of MercerBell and management of client relationships, Julie is also passionate about staff training and nurturing a strong culture – something MercerBell is renowned for. As a committed supporter of the industry, Julie has acted both as Chair and Boardmember for ADMA, whilst also being involved in speaking and mentoring initiatives. Her industry involvement was acknowledged in 2014 with the ADMA Jon Clark Outstanding Contribution Award.

MATT OLANDA

Matt has been in the marketing industry for 13 years. He has depth of knowledge across direct, digital, CRM, loyalty and integrated strategies and campaigns. Matt started his marketing career in London where he spent 7 years working with clients including BMW, Rolls-Royce and the UK Department of Health. Matt has been with MercerBell for 6 years and heads up the Client Service Department as well as leading key agency clients.

Executive Strategy Director

Brads career spans 17 years and he joined MercerBell in 2018. Prior to this Brad held a strategic leadership role at The Hallway where he worked closely with key Clients such as Google, ANZ, and Primary Healthcare. Brad’s role at MercerBell includes building and designing customer experiences, building predictive models, leveraging the principles of behavioural science and, understanding the needs and motivators of the individual customer through data.

VAUGHAN TOWNSEND

Executive Creative Director

Vaughan has been lucky enough to work at some of the most creative agencies in the world, in a career spanning two hemispheres and three continents. He cut his teeth at two SA creative hot-shops, namely The Jupiter Drawing Room and TBWA Hunt Lascaris. He then pursued a career in London to work at agencies including Ogilvy, LIDA M&C Saatchi and TBWA. Vaughan has been fortunate enough to win over 100 international accolades, including D&ADs and Cannes Lions, to more data driven awards such as DMAs and Caples.

Saatchi & Saatchi acquires MercerBell

Over a pie and a pint in the Rocks in early 1999, Nick Mercer and David Bell shook hands on a venture to launch a new type of agency in Sydney, placing customers at the core of everything they did.

Starting life as a DM agency, MercerBell is now one of Australia’s leading Customer Experience Agencies, boasting a highly envious client list which includes Qantas, Caltex, American Express, Collective Wellness (including Anytime Fitness) and TFE Hotels.

A new chapter in the MercerBell story began with our acquisition by Publicis Groupe in February 2016. While we continue to operate as a separate business working with our own clients, this partnership allows us to offer seamless brand to customer experience for shared clients.
